    Responsibilities

    * Participate in project planning, recording, and evaluation of data.

    * Conduct independent scholarly research, developing new methods and protocols under the guidance of a mentor (principal investigator).

    * Acquire technical, lab management, and grant writing skills.

    * Participate in seminars, lectures, poster sessions, national presentations, and professional workshops.

    * Supervise junior lab members.

    * Assist with other research projects as needed.

About the Lab:

One NIH-sponsored postdoctoral fellow position is available in Dr. Nik Sgourakis 's lab at theCenter for Computational and Genomic Medicine and the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), and the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn).

The major focus of the laboratory is to investigate the molecular mechanisms of MHC-I antigen processing and presentation, including non-classical MHC molecules, toward novel synthetic biology applications and clinical translation through the development of targeted therapeutics. Multiple protein design-based projects are available: (1) Design of novel immunological chaperones; (2) Structure-guided design of synthetic immune receptors.

2. TAPBPR promotes antigen loading on MHC-I molecules using a peptide trap. Nature Communications, 2021

Applications should have experience with yeast display methods for protein engineering. Students who just received or are expected to receive their degree are encouraged to apply.
